Hockey Season 2015-2016
The 2015-2016 hockey season is right around the corner. This email will cover a lot of information so please read through to the end.
Registration will be held Sunday, August 9th and Sunday, August 16th. Parents MUST attend a mandatory parent meeting at 4pm on one of the days with registration to follow in order for your child to play. Also, be sure to complete the online registration with USA Hockey prior to the meeting and bring the confirmation sheet with. The website is www.usahockey.com – there is a link on the top right side of the page “online registration”. Players WILL NOT be allowed on the ice until all registration paperwork is taken care of and fees are paid or arrangements made. So plan to bring all needed items to registration.
Fees are as follows:
Termites: $225.00 – first year is free
(Fees must be paid at registration or an arrangement made)

Coaches: Anyone interested in coaching this season should contact a board member ASAP.
Refs: There will be a referee clinic on Saturday, October 17th from 9a-3p at the high school. Anyone (players 11 or older or adults) can participate in the clinic. Bring skates and helmet as there is also on ice instruction. Those who complete the course and sign up to ref will be reimbursed for the cost of the clinic. Register online at www.usahockey.com under the registration tab. Any questions, contact a board member.
We are always in need of volunteers to help organize all the aspects of running a successful program. New this season… all Grafton Youth Hockey families will be required to participate on a committee (this does not include PR parents of peewees and bantams as they will volunteer with PR Youth Hockey). Committees will include: fundraising, mega raffle, golf tournament, concessions, grow the game, tournaments, etc. Sign-up sheet will be available at registration – if you do not sign up for a committee, one will be assigned to you.
Fundraising: As a parent in the youth hockey program, our expectations (in addition to volunteering) from each family is to sell 3 Mega Raffle tickets at $100.00 each. The youth hockey association has opted to do 1 main fundraiser to try to support the majority of the hockey season. All tickets should be sold and turned in no later than March 1st. There may be other fundraisers during the year and volunteers will be sought to help with the planning and carrying out of those events. GYHA needs full participation in the Mega Raffle event to have a successful program. We are looking for other options with fundraising going forward. As coach fees, referee fees, and other costs go up, we are finding that we need to be more proactive and search for different ways to generate income so we don’t have to have outrageous fees for our kids to participate.
Hockey Camp: Dates are Monday, October 12th – Friday, October 23rd (Mon-Fri only) – forms to be available at registration.
